SB 338 - This act modifies numerous provisions relating to the election of political party committees. The act prohibits write-in votes from being counted in the election of members to county committees and legislative district committees.
Under current law, members of county political party committees in St. Louis city and St. Louis County are elected at the primary election immediately preceding each gubernatorial election. This act requires such members to be elected at each primary election. Persons elected as chair or vice-chair of a legislative district committee must be legally permitted to vote in such district. Moreover, a person may not serve as chair or vice-chair on more than one legislative district committee.
Under current law, members of each senatorial district committee vote for two persons, one man and one woman, to serve on the state party committee. This act modifies this provision so that in counties not wholly contained within one senatorial district, only committee members from a precinct, township, or ward within the senatorial district are eligible to vote in such election.
