Senator Schaefer hosted the Rock Bridge High School Girls Swimming and Diving Team in the Capitol this week. The Lady Bruins took First Place at the Missouri State High School Activities Association Girls Swimming and Diving Championship. The Lady Bruins attained this success with the leadership of coaches Laura Wacker, Zach Mertens, Emily Argotsinger, and Kelsey Arends. Members of the Championship team include Ashley Arneson, Althea Felton, Ellie Flanagan, Kate Forward, Alexis Hopkins, Bettie Logan, Olivia Nanneman, Lexi Peery, Kristi Seyer, Elinor Stanley, Kelley Tackett, Anna Willcoxon, Nicole Williams, Madison Wright, and Elli Zweifel – the daughter of State Treasurer Clint Zweifel.

Coach Gary Pinkel and several players of the University of Missouri Tiger Football team visited the Capitol to be recognized for their exceptional season and win of the Citrus Bowl. The team was available for signing memorabilia for the public throughout the day and was presented on both the Senate and House floors. I had the privilege to introduce them in the Senate.

Senator Schaefer had the pleasure of presenting the Battle High School Spartans Football team on Wednesday, Feb. 18 to the Senate body. In the first year of eligible district participation, Battle High School earned the State Championship in Class 5 when they defeated the Nixa Eagles 25 to 22. The team is led by head coach Justin Conyers and supported by several other coaches and parents. The parents not only contribute support on the field, but off the field as well by providing meals for both Battle’s and the opposing team’s players before and after each game. It is with this foundation that Battle High School Football team will continue to see success.
