Current Bill Summary

SB 1107 - Currently, utilities have the power of eminent domain. Under this act, eminent domain shall not be exercised for any electric transmission line if the project is built outside a regulated regional transmission planning process, the project is not eligible for certain cost recovery, the project is constructed entirely with private funds, or the project primarily involves construction of a high-voltage direct current line. However, this limitation shall not apply to certain alternating current transmission lines as set forth in this act.

This act is substantially similar to HB 2418 (2016), and is similar to HB 1426 (2016) and HB 1445 (2016).
