HB 1962 - This act modifies provisions relating to watercraft.

WATER PATROL DIVISION FUND (Section 306.030) - Currently, the first $2 million collected annually from watercraft certificate numbers is deposited into general revenue, with any amount over $2 million being deposited into the Water Patrol Division Fund. This act instead changes the amount deposited to general revenue to $1 million, with any amount over $1 million being deposited into the Water Patrol Division Fund.

LIFE JACKETS (Section 306.100) - Currently, watercraft are required to have certain equipment, including lifesaving devices that are U.S. Coast Guard approved. Under this act, any operator of a watercraft in violation of this requirement shall be guilty of an infraction and fined not more than $25.

This provision contains an emergency clause.

This provision is similar to HB 2197 (2016).

SLOW-NO WAKE SPEED (Section 306.125) - Currently, watercraft shall not be operated within 100 feet of any dock, pier, or occupied anchored boat in excess of slow-no wake speed. Any watercraft operator violating this provision shall be guilty of an infraction and fined not more than $25.

This provision contains an emergency clause.
