HB 1427 - By September 1, 2017, this act requires every public school district and charter school to develop, maintain, and make publicly available on its website a searchable budget and detail of actual income and expenditure and disbursements database for the current calendar or fiscal year. The data must be updated at least quarterly and shall maintain the data for at least ten years.

This act also requires the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to create a template for voluntary use by any school district needing assistance in developing its database by January 1, 2017. If a school district does not maintain such a database, this information shall be accessible through DESE.

This act is substantially similar to HB 798 (2015).
