SIKESTON—The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 to discuss constructing a new Route 53 bridge over the St. Francis River in Butler and Dunklin Counties. The meeting will be held at Qulin Middle School, located at 406 Connecticut Street in Qulin, Mo.
“Visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with a member of the project team and provide their comments,” said Project Manager Eric Krapf.
The project includes constructing a Route 53 bridge over the St. Francis River on a new alignment to replace the existing St. Francis River and overflow bridges in this location. Traffic will remain on existing structures as construction is underway. Improvements are expected to begin in spring 2017, with completion anticipated in fall 2018.
The improved bridge will be 36-feet wide—10 feet wider than the existing structures.
