JEFFERSON CITY—This week, Senator Paul Wieland met with members of the Missouri Port Authority Association, which visited the Capitol in response to a proposal that would increase funding for port capital improvements and construction.
“Our ports and the distribution industry they support in Missouri are critical to our economy. I’ve always supported our port authority systems,” said Sen. Wieland. “I was pleased then to see in the governor’s budget an additional $5 million for port construction projects and capital improvements. The demand for Missouri products is increasing, and I believe the best way to get those goods in the hands of consumers is through our thriving port system. We need to invest now.”
