Senator Pearce to Host Media Availability on Senate Bill 997
Springfield, MO – On Wednesday, July 27, State Senator David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, will host a media availability on the successful passage and signing of Senate Bill 997, a comprehensive higher education bill at Missouri State University in Springfield. Senator Pearce will be joined by officials from the Department of Higher Education (DHE) and the State Coordinating Board for Higher Education (CBHE), as well as administrators and representatives from Missouri State University, Missouri Southern State University, Ozarks Technical Community College and Crowder College.
The event will be a roundtable discussion concerning the positive impacts SB 997’s passage will have on Missouri’s universities, community colleges, students, faculty and staff. The event is open to the public, and all members of the media are invited to attend.
Senate Bill 997 was largely constructed after the State Coordinating Board for Higher Education’s “Blueprint for Higher Education Report.” The bill will authorize multiple scholarship programs, allow students to enroll in dual credit courses, enable student loan forgiveness for certain students and offer financial aid for veterans and their families, among other provisions.
