HCS/HB 229 - Under this act, no elected local government lobbyist shall make any expenditure for any public official of the state, or for his or her staff, employees, spouse, or dependent children. Notwithstanding this prohibition, an elected local government lobbyist may invite all members of the General Assembly to an event at which all members at the event receive an expenditure. The act further prohibits any lobbyist from making any expenditure for:
• any elected or appointed official of any political subdivision of the state;
• a superintendent or school board member of a school district; or
• a member of a governing body of a charter school.
This prohibition is additionally extended to such person's staff, employees, spouse, and dependent children. Notwithstanding this prohibition, a lobbyist may invite all members of a particular political subdivision to an event at which all elected or appointed officials at the event receive an expenditure.
