JEFFERSON CITY — As part of her effort to increase the exchange of ideas and promote community building during the interim of the General Assembly, Sen. Nasheed, D-St. Louis, is welcoming friends and neighbors to a partnership forum on Monday, July 10.
“During the last forum, we focused on property and real estate investment in the district. We will continue our community-building efforts by discussing programs that provide technical training and educational advancement in the city,” Sen. Nasheed said.
Senator Nasheed has partnered with A Firm Foundation on a quest to invest and stabilize the City of St. Louis, particularly North St. Louis. “Job training and opportunities are important factors in our efforts to strengthen the people of St. Louis. In a state of emergency with crime and a lack of resources, programs, such those offered by MOKAN and BUD, give people more options to support their families. Our goal for the forum is to present opportunities, education and resources that one may not have imagined.”
The focus of the forum will be helping citizens understand how to take advantage of certificate programs, pre-apprenticeships and other educational opportunities. The forum will discuss BUD’s and MOKAN’s programs and the HiSet exam, which is a way to receive a high school equivalency credential. The event will be held at the YMCA O’Fallon Park Recreation Complex, located at 4343 W. Florissant Ave., and will start at 6:30 pm.
