JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (MAPA) recently recognized Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, with a 2014 Legislator of the Year Award for his legislative work on behalf of Missouri’s criminal justice system. The award was presented on Aug. 27, 2014, during MAPA’s annual meeting. “Missouri’s prosecutors are extremely grateful to Senator Dixon for his tireless efforts as a co-sponsor of the Revised Criminal Code,” said Matt Selby, MAPA president and Stone County prosecuting attorney. “Thanks to his hard work, Missouri has a modern, efficient criminal code that strongly promotes public safety and that is fit for the 21st century criminal justice system.” “I am honored to receive this award,” said Sen. Dixon. “One of my highest priorities has been a strong, effective justice system that protects individual liberty and promotes a free society. Missouri prosecutors are dedicated to seeking justice for the citizens of our state, and it has been my privilege to ensure that they have the tools they need to fulfill this obligation, including the Revised Criminal Code.” Senator Dixon was recognized for outstanding legislative achievement for the improvement of the criminal justice system, including his leadership role in the passage of the Revised Criminal Code (Senate Bill 491 and House Bill 1371). During his two years as Senate Judiciary Chair, Sen. Dixon has sponsored or handled key bills to improve the administration of justice in Missouri:
