Governor Eric Greitens visits Portageville
Friday, inside Rone Hall at the Fisher Delta Research Center of the University of Missouri in Portageville. At the event, which was hosted by Rep. Don Rone, area farmers told of their financial losses last year resulting of overspray and drifting of illegal use of herbicides. The governor visited at length with many farmers affected by this illegal activity. These losses are both heartbreaking and devastating, in many cases losing as much as 50 percent of their crops. This not only affects farmers who were directly impacted, but also our many communities so dependent on agriculture.
Gov. Greitens then moved outside for the official signing ceremony of Rep. Rone’s House Bill 662 that increases penalties for those who illegally use these chemicals. This bill became law immediately after signing. Thanks to Rep. Rone for sponsoring and passing this very important piece of legislation.
While in Portageville, we also toured SRG Global’s new expansion in progress. Plant Manager Ron Randen briefed the governor on this multi-million dollar project and the many auto parts manufactured here. SRG employs up to 450 people at this location. This investment certainly is a testament of the company appreciating the commitment of its employees doing great work, and the support of the community. Thanks so much SRG Global for believing in Portageville, Missouri. We appreciate you very much!
