Sen. Keaveny’s MONA Legislation to be Heard by Senate Committee Today

Jefferson City — Missouri Senate Minority Floor Leader Joseph Keaveny, D-St. Louis, will present Senate Bill 653, also called the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act,  to the Senate Committee on Progress and Development at 2 p.m., today, in Senate Committee Room 2, in the Missouri Capitol.

The Missouri Non-Discrimination Act would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the current list of protected categories under the Missouri Human Rights Statutes.

“Everyone deserves equal treatment in today’s society. Discriminating against any person is wrong and MONA seeks to ensure people are not treated differently because of their sexual orientation or the gender by which they identify,” Sen. Keaveny said.
