JEFFERSON CITY — Senate Leadership announced today the hiring of Patrick Baker to serve in the role of Senate administrator. The Senate administrator acts in the capacity of the chief executive officer of the Senate and oversees all operations of the Senate, coordinating directors and all Senate staff.
“We were fortunate to have a lot of qualified candidates apply for the position, and the decision wasn’t easy,” said Senate Leader Ron Richard, R-Joplin. “But, we strongly believe Patrick is very capable and will help ensure the Senate runs smoothly.”
Baker currently serves as the Missouri State Disaster Recovery Coordinator, but he has also served as the chief of staff for the Lt. Governor and as a policy director for the Senate Majority Caucus.
“Patrick has worked in some capacity with legislators for more than 12 years, and his knowledge of Senate procedures and administrative policies makes him a great asset to add to our team,” said Majority Floor Leader Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City.
“The Senate is a group of diverse leaders with unique backgrounds, all dedicated to moving Missouri forward,” said Minority Leader Gina Walsh, D-Bellefontaine Neighbors. “Patrick’s professionalism, personality and experience in the Senate will help him to work with members of both parties as we serve the citizens, families and communities of our state.”
Baker replaces Marga Hoelscher who retired in June. His duties as Senate administrator will begin Sept. 1, 2017.
