Jefferson City — The Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (MAPA) recently recognized Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, with a 2017 Legislative Champion Award for his legislative efforts on behalf of the interests of Missouri’s prosecutors, crime victims and the criminal justice system. The award was presented on Aug. 30, 2017, during MAPA’s annual meeting.
“Missouri’s prosecutors are proud to recognize Sen. Dixon as a Legislative Champion,” said Jason Lamb, MAPA Executive Director. “He is a tireless voice on behalf of crime victims and public safety. His leadership as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee has been invaluable to efforts to improve the criminal justice system.”
“It is an honor to receive this award,” said Sen. Dixon. “I have enjoyed working with the legal community to promote a strong, effective justice system that protects Missourians’ liberties. Our state’s prosecutors devote themselves to seeking justice for the citizens of Missouri. I’m happy to do whatever I can in the Legislature to help them achieve this worthy goal.”
Senator Dixon was recognized for sponsoring legislation that would have strengthened punishments for public official misconduct, strengthened laws concerning harassment and domestic assault, and updated the state’s criminal code.
