JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, sponsored a local resident for the position of student representative of the University of Central Missouri Board of Governors. The senator spoke on behalf of Mathew R. Martinez of Warrensburg.
“I’ve known Mathew for many years, and he always does a great job at whatever endeavor he undertakes,” Sen. Pearce said. “I know he will make the residents of the 21st District and his peers at Central Missouri proud in his new position.”
In addition to being a student in Central Missouri’s Business Administration undergraduate program, Martinez is also currently acting president of UCM’s College Democrats, and serves as the floor leader, freshman senator and chair of the Ad Hoc Committee for Gender Violence Prevention within the UCM Student Government Association.
Outside his legislative duties, Martinez is enrolled in UCM’s Honors College, participates in Model UN and is a member of the UCM Talking Mules Debate Team.
