JEFFERSON CITY — Senator David Sater, R-Cassville, was sworn in yesterday (1/4) for a second term as the state senator from Missouri’s 29th District. Sater was reelected in November after serving a four-year term after a successful run for the seat in 2012.
“It is an honor and a privilege to work for the folks of the 29th District in the State Capitol,” Sater said. “Over the past four years, I’ve worked hard to defend the values we hold dear in southwest Missouri. Whether it was pushing work-for-welfare reform, the 72-hour waiting period for an abortion, or stiffer penalties for cattle rustlers, it’s been my goal to represent every corner of the district and make Missouri a state we can be proud of.”
Sater was sworn in just after 12 p.m. in the Senate as family, friends, and supporters looked on. Sater represents Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, Stone and Taney counties in the Missouri Senate.
Sater’s swearing-in, along with that of his colleagues, marks the beginning of the legislative session, which runs from January to May each year.
“November was a message, loud and clear, that the American people and the people of Missouri want government to do things differently.” Sater said. “They are tired of a government that spends and taxes more than it should. They are tired of the cradle-to-the-grave nanny state. They are tired of special interests and they are tired of government too powerful and too involved in our lives. My pledge to the people of the 29th District is that I will continue to work to bring government back to its constitutional roots – limited and formed to serve the people and no one else. I believe our best days are ahead if only we remember what made this the greatest country on earth – faith, freedom, and hard work.”
Prior to serving in the Missouri General Assembly, Sater owned and operated Sater Pharmacy in Cassville for over 30 years. He resides in Cassville with his wife, Sharon.
