JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Caleb Rowden, R–Columbia, today issued the following statement regarding University of Missouri System executive incentives:
“I applaud President Choi’s swift and strong decision to terminate the executive performance incentive program. The University of Missouri System, and every public institution in our state, has a responsibility to the taxpayers to operate in a transparent manner. Today’s decisive actions are an important first step in Dr. Choi’s tenure as UM System President and the articulation of a new narrative of excellence at Missouri’s flagship university.
The actions of the previous administration, and its response to turmoil on campus, cannot be undone. We can only move forward. The appointment of three new curators and the installation of President Choi are indicative of the positive, systemic changes already underway at the UM System.
I have spoken at length with Dr. Choi, Chancellor Foley and members of the Board of Curators this week, and I am as confident as I have ever been in our leadership and their vision for the future of our great University. I look forward to standing alongside them in the years to come to advance the mission and the values of the University of Missouri across our state and around the world.”
