Senator Munzlinger and Representative Redmon Discuss Area Infrastructure Updates

As your elected representatives in Jefferson City, we wanted to take a few minutes this week to reflect on a concern facing the district. Over the last several years, there have been numerous conversations about how best to improve our utility infrastructure to attract new businesses and further stabilize the electric grid. We believe true success means accomplishing these goals with minimal disruption to landowners and consumers, all while promoting the prosperity of northeast Missouri.

Progress is not determined by any one policy or reform, but by the responsibility of society to take ownership of a common concern. We feel the Legislature’s purpose is to serve as a unifying voice for constituents—not only in one county, but throughout the district and entire state. We must be willing to stand by change and be prepared to adapt to the environment around us as we obtain new knowledge and understanding.

Being a lawmaker is more than simply filing bills or encouraging people to go to court; it is recognizing that conversations about how to fix a problem can be difficult, but ultimately are more effective than any piece of legislation could be. We challenge you, as voters, to reach out to officials who work for you, both inside and outside the Capitol. Elect officials who know when an issue can be resolved with a conversation and who will initiate those conversations on behalf of their constituents to achieve the best possible results.

In an era of such unprecedented societal and technological advancements, we must come together and move forward as a stronger, more resilient society. We encourage new and existing interest groups to work together to discover the best possible solutions for the advancement of our state and nation. Ultimately, this is what leads to a society whose culture is defined by innovative thinking and continuous practical growth.
