Work Begins in Jefferson City as 99th General Assembly Convenes
Last week I was honored to be sworn in as a new member of the Missouri Senate representing the people of the 21st Senatorial District. As I stood in the magnificent Senate Chamber and took an oath to uphold the office I have been elected to, I was humbled by the task before me, but excited to get to work for my constituents.
It is a privilege to have the support of my family, friends and constituency as I begin this next chapter in my legislative career. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank my fiancée Michelle, and my children Cole and Amelia, for their support once again as we start this new journey together. After spending eight years in the House of Representatives and serving as your Speaker Pro Tem from 2013 to 2016, I look forward to the new challenges and opportunities my time in the Missouri Senate will bring me. I’m here to work for you and I thank you for putting your trust in me once again.
On Monday our new governor was sworn in on the steps of the State Capitol and ushered in what I believe will be a new era of conservative leadership. The Governor’s Ball was held that evening at the State Capitol, and I held a reception in my office to welcome my constituents. I’m proud to report that every county in my Senate district was represented by citizens who came to help celebrate. I urge you to come visit my office any time.
I would also like to use this column as an opportunity to introduce you, my constituents, to the 21st Senate District office staff.
Rachel Bauer serves as my Chief of Staff and began those duties in my office in 2013 when I was elected as Speaker Pro Tem. Rachel has been working for the Missouri Legislature for more than 12 years.
Marybeth Bruns serves as my legislative assistant and has worked for the Missouri Legislature for more than 20 years. She joined our office in 2013.
My team has invaluable experience and our district is fortunate to have them. I have full confidence they will do an excellent job working for the citizens of the 21st Senate District.
In next week’s column I hope to discuss my committee assignments and the legislation I have sponsored for the 2017 session.
I urge you to contact my office with any questions or concerns you have about state government so that I can better represent you during the 2017 legislative session.
I always appreciate hearing your comments, opinions, and concerns. Please feel free to contact me in Jefferson City at (573) 751-4302. You may also email me at denny.hoskins@senate.mo.gov.
