Current Bill Summary

SB 1004 - This act creates the "Trauma-Informed Care for Children and Families Board", which shall enter into a public-private partnership to promote the healthy development of children and families by promoting comprehensive trauma-informed support systems and interagency cooperation. The act specifies board membership and procurement processes. The public-private partnership shall develop training utilizing evidence-based and informed best practices regarding early identification of children and families at risk of experiencing trauma, referral of such children and families to appropriate trauma-informed support services, and implementation of trauma-informed approaches and interventions in schools, organizations, homes, and other settings. The training shall be disseminated to staff in state-funded programs serving children and families through the Departments of Elementary and Secondary Education, Health and Senior Services, Mental Health, and Social Services.

This act is substantially similar to HB 2217 (2018) and provisions in HCB 11 (2018) and CCS/SB 819 (2018).
