Current Bill Summary

SB 1066 - This act requires the Public Service Commission to procure, through a competitive bidding process, an entity to perform a study plan to assess the current and future infrastructure to the potential negative impacts of a geomagnetic disturbance or electromagnetic pulse. Such entity shall meet certain criteria, and shall perform such study, as set forth in this act. Such study plan shall be complete by June 1, 2019, shall be delivered to the Public Service Commission, and the Commission shall promulgate rules that identify effective measure that can be taken to protect the transmission and distribution system. Beginning January 1, 2021, electrical corporations shall begin implementing the rules promulgated by the Commission, with such implementation being completed by January 1, 2025.
