Senator Jamilah Nasheed Announces Health Fair at Clinton-Peabody
JEFFERSON CITY —State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, announces she will be joining the St. Louis Housing Authority and Missouri Association of Health Plans for a health fair at the Clinton-Peabody Public Housing Complex on June 1. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will also be in attendance.
“This is a great event for the residents of Clinton-Peabody,” said Sen. Nasheed. “A healthy lifestyle starts at home, and we’re excited to introduce the community to the importance of making healthy choices. With a host of opportunities to learn about healthy living and other services, I encourage everyone to come out and take part in this event.”
The health fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Al Chappelle Community Center within the Clinton-Peabody Housing Complex, with a press conference at 10:45 a.m. before the start of the fair. During the fair, residents will have access to a variety of health services, including dental exams and cleanings, asthma testing, health counseling, blood screenings, CPR training, smoking cession programs and exercise programs such as Zumba. Family counseling and empowerment as well as information on opening bank accounts will also be offered. Residents will also have access to job opportunities during the fair through the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment. Free food will be available for residents.
Additionally, residents will also be able to order, at no charge, one adjustable bed frames (twin, full or queen), 15 piece plastic food storage containers with lids and a range of plastic storage boxes.
