Jefferson City, Mo. – Tuesday, Feb. 14, was the 4th annual Missouri Military Appreciation Day at the Missouri Capitol.

The day started with passionate testimony before a joint meeting of the Senate and House Veterans and Military Affairs Committees.

Major Gen. Steve Danner, Adj. Gen. of the Missouri National Guard; Maj. Gen. Kent Savre, Commanding General of the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood; Brig. Gen. Paul Tibbets IV, Commander of the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base; Ed Donaldson, Deputy Chief of Staff for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and Kirby Brown, Deputy to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., all testified before the committees about the current state of their respective branches and facilities.

Military members on hand were recognized on the floor of both the Senate and House of Representatives after spending the day visiting with elected officials.

There are more than 95,000 Missourians working defense-related jobs, including several military bases, and dozens of military vendors and suppliers. The military industry has a significant impact on the state’s economy. It is reported, for every $1 invested into the state’s military, $2.50 is generated in Missouri goods and services.
