Part of my job as your State Senator is to ensure my constituents have access to important resources. This is why my office offers a variety of informational publications, both online and through the mail. Typically, we send out annual newsletters with legislative updates, surveys seeking your opinions and directories that provide you with valuable resources. Recently, my staff released a comprehensive fishing and hunting guide, which provides outdoor enthusiasts with important information regarding the public fishing and hunting areas in the 26th Senatorial District.
The 14-page directory contains information on hunting seasons, hunter safety courses, public fishing and hunting locations in our area and a comprehensive list of Missouri Department of Conservation area and contacts in our communities.
I encourage everyone to take a look at the guide, especially as we approach the start of youth turkey season in just a few weeks. The guide contains the most up-to-date information about both youth and adult hunting seasons and also provides links to other important information. As hunters and fishermen it is important we not only follow safe hunting practices, but that we also follow state laws while we enjoy Missouri’s outdoors.
Currently, the guide (web address: https://www.senate.mo.gov/Media/18info/Schatz/2018HuntingFishing.pdf) is available online.
It is no secret among my friends and family that I am an avid sportsmen. Last year, I was given the Conservation Legislator of the Year award from the Conservation Federation of Missouri for my work on conservation and sporting issues. I hope all Missouri citizens get a chance to enjoy the outdoors as much as I do and hopefully my hunting and fishing directory will help some residents of the 26th Senate District take full advantage of our state’s natural resources.
