Senator Jeanie Riddle Appointed to Senate Appropriations Committee
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Jeanie Riddle, R-Callaway County, announces she has been appointed to the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee. The Appropriations Committee is charged with considering all bills and matters pertaining to general appropriations and the disbursement of public money.
“As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I am committed to making sure our state lives within its means, while properly funding our state’s priorities,” stated Sen. Riddle. “It is an honor and a privilege to be appointed to this important committee, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure your tax dollars are spent wisely and efficiently.”
The Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee is an integral part of the budget process. During the 2018 legislative session, the Appropriations Committee thoroughly vetted the state’s $28.3 billion operating budget for the 2019 fiscal year before sending it to the floor of the Missouri Senate for further consideration. Within the $28.3 billion spending plan for the 2019 fiscal year, $9.4 billion of the budget is made up of general revenue. The General Assembly has direct control over general revenue and appropriates these funds to state agencies and departments.
