We are moving into the final two weeks of the 2018 legislative session, which means the bulk of the legislation we have discussed in committee will be talked about on the floor of the Missouri Senate. In addition, we must truly agree and finally pass the state’s operating budget for the next fiscal year. By law, we are required to have the budget delivered to the governor no later than 6 p.m. on Friday, May 11. The legislative session will end at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 18.
Over the past several weeks, we have sent a few more bills to the governor’s desk for his approval, including:
- Senate Bill 593 – Enacts provisions relating to financial solvency of insurance companies;
- Senate Bill 594 – Exempts certain types of commercial insurance lines from filing requirements with respect to rates, rate plans, modifications and manuals;
- Senate Bill 644 – Creates new provisions relating to unclaimed property;
- Senate Bill 683 – Modifies provisions relating to the transportation of construction cranes;
- Senate Bill 705 – Modifies provisions relating to rate adjustments outside of general rate proceedings for certain public utilities;
- Senate Bill 782 – Modifies provisions relating to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources;
- Senate Bill 814 – Modifies provisions relating to driver’s licenses for people who are deaf or hard of hearing;
- Senate Bill 840 – Modifies provisions relating to dietitians;
- Senate Bill 894 – Establishes a statewide STEM career awareness program and enacts new provisions of law related to computer science;
- Senate Bill 917 – Modifies provisions relating to coal ash;
- House Bill 1268 – Modifies provisions relating to the Missouri Dental Board;
- House Bill 1286 – Modifies the per-ton fee that is paid to the Missouri Division of Fire Safety for the use of explosives under the Missouri Blasting Safety Act;
- House Bill 1500 – Modifies provisions relating to certain occupations and professions;
- House Bill 1690 – Modifies provisions relating to insurance guaranty;
- House Bill 2015 – To appropriate money for supplemental purposes for the expenses, grants and distributions of the Missouri Department of Economic Development;
- House Bill 2034 – Modifies provisions relating to industrial hemp;
- House Bill 2101 – Specifies that guardian ad litem fees shall not be automatically waived in certain civil actions
