JEFFERSON CITY — On Nov. 15, 2018, Missouri State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, was the recipient of two awards at the Missouri Chamber of Commerce’s annual Missouri Business Awards meeting. During the event, Sen. Hoskins was awarded the Freshman of Year, for his diligence in passing key legislation relating to Missouri businesses, commitment to legal and labor reforms and advocacy for veterans across the state.
Senator Hoskins was specifically recognized for his work on Senate Bill 608, also known as the Business Premises Safety Act. This legislation was signed into law by the governor in July. Under the legislation, it created a level of protection for businesses against frivolous lawsuits and enabled business owners to defend themselves against lawsuits filed over injuries related to the criminal acts of others where the property owner had no control.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized for my work by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce,” said Sen. Hoskins. “I will continue looking for ways to create a more sustainable and level-playing field for Missouri businesses during the upcoming legislative session.”
In addition, Sen. Hoskins was one of 23 legislators recognized for their consistent efforts to protect job creators by voting with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry on every key business bill during the 2018 legislative session.
