SB 495 - Currently, the Department of Social Services is required to make an annual report to the Joint Committee on Government Accountability on the work requirements for eligibility under the temporary assistance for needy families (TANF) program. The Joint Committee is required to meet at least annually to review this report. This act repeals the provision requiring the Joint Committee to meet and provides that the report shall be delivered to the President Pro Tempore of Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Currently, the Department of Natural Resources is required to send an implementation impact report regarding certain environmental standards to a number of entities, including the Joint Committee on Government Accountability. Also, before final submission of the state implementation plan to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Joint Committee may conduct public hearings on the proposed plan. This act repeals both provisions with regard to the Joint Committee.
