SB 384 - Under current law, persons seeking to vote in an election shall be registered no later than 5 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday prior to such election. This act extends that deadline to 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday prior to the election. The act additionally allows persons otherwise qualified to vote who missed the aforementioned deadline to register and vote on election day at his or her polling place. Furthermore, such persons who are additionally qualified to vote an absentee ballot may register and vote an absentee ballot in person at the election authority until 5:00 p.m. on the day before the election. Any person voting under these provisions must cast a provisional ballot which shall be counted in accordance with the current law pertaining to the counting of provisional ballots.
The act repeals provisions allowing for new residents and intrastate new residents to cast absentee ballots.
