JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, would like to congratulate a local St. Charles resident on her selection as a finalist for the 2019 Missouri Teacher of the Year award.
Shelly Parks, an English teacher at Francis Howell North High School, is one of seven Missouri educators selected as finalists for the award. She and the other finalists will be honored at a banquet in Jefferson City on Monday, Oct. 22.
“Education is one of the most important aspects in a child’s development, and a good teacher can make all the difference,” Sen Eigel said. “I support the hard work of our local schools in helping the next generation of Missourians thrive and excel, and I wish Shelly the best of luck during the selection process.”
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education appoints a panel of teachers, business professionals and leaders of educational organizations to interview finalists for the position of Missouri Teacher of the Year. The winner will serve as the state of Missouri’s official nominee for the 2019 National Teacher of the Year.
