JEFFERSON CITY —The Missouri passed Senate Bill 397 and sent it to the Missouri House of Representatives for further consideration. Senate Bill 397 extends the period of time in which a petition to create a museum and cultural district can be filed from five years after the presidential declaration establishing the disaster area, to 15 years after the presidential declaration.
“This legislation will allow Joplin to move forward with its desire to build a museum and cultural arts district in the aftermath of the 2011 tornado,” said Sen. Bill White. “I look forward to this legislation getting across the finish line and being signed in the law.”
