JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, discusses Senate Bill 349, legislation that seeks to require each local school district and charter school to have a policy for reading intervention plans for any pupils in grades kindergarten through four; Senate Bill 271, a measure that would transfer the authority of the State Board of Education and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to regulate charter schools to the Missouri Charter Public School Commission; and Senate Bill 160, which would establish the Missouri Empowerment Scholarship Accounts Program. All of these proposals relate to education.
