JEFFERSON CITY — On Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, the Missouri Senate welcomed Pattie Parris, the first female doorkeeper in the history of the Missouri Senate. Parris returned to the State Capitol following an extensive career in the Missouri General Assembly. She has served numerous lawmakers throughout her career, including Margaret Kelly, the first female auditor in the state’s history; Catherine Hanaway, the first female speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives; and Ron Richard, the first member of the General Assembly to serve as speaker of the Missouri House and president pro tem of the Missouri Senate. While she has witnessed countless historical events during her service to the state, Parris now becomes the first woman to serve as a doorkeeper in either chamber of the Missouri General Assembly.
