Sen. Dan Hegeman Sworn Into Office as 2019 Legislative Session Begins
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Dan Hegeman, R-Cosby, took the official oath of office on Wednesday, Jan. 9, the first day of the Missouri General Assembly’s 2019 legislative session. This marks his second term as a Missouri state senator.
Sen. Hegeman represents the state’s 12th Senatorial District, which is comprised of 15 counties in Northwest Missouri. He first won election to the Senate in 2014, and was re-elected to a second term last November.
During the 2019 legislative session, the senator will serve as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which produces the body’s preliminary version of the state operating budget. Previously, he served as chairman of the Senate Local Government and Elections Committee.
“It is an honor to represent the 12th Senatorial District in the Missouri Senate,” Sen. Hegeman said. “I am committed to serving the great people of Northwest Missouri, and the entire state, with dignity and humility. As appropriations chairman, I will do everything in my power to ensure Missouri government remains fiscally responsible and financially secure.”
During the swearing-in ceremony, the Senate welcomed nine new members following the results of the November election. The 2019 legislative session will conclude on Friday, May 17.
