During the 2018 legislative session, lawmakers passed more than 145 pieces of legislation. Bill signings have been ongoing for months, and the governor recently signed several pieces of legislation, which I proudly sponsored, into law.
Senate Bill 707 modifies provisions of state law regarding vehicle sales. The legislation doubles the amount of bonding a car dealer must carry in order to be licensed.
Senate Bill 708 increases the minimum motor vehicle liability coverage to $25,000. I filed this legislation because motorists should know their fellow drivers can at least cover the replacement cost of their vehicle in case of an accident.
Senate Bill 862 reforms Missouri law governing electrical contractors. Under the legislation, electrical contractors who have an occupational or business license as an electrical contractor or master electrician will be eligible for a statewide license as long as the applicant meets the standards outlined by the legislation. Any person operating as an electrical contractor in a municipality that requires a local license will not be required to possess a statewide license in order to continue operating in the municipality. Any individual receiving a statewide license will be eligible to work in any municipality within the state.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 49 places Senate Bill 19, legislation making Missouri a Right to Work state, on the August 7 ballot.
