JEFFERSON CITY – State Sen. Eric Burlison, R-Battlefield, has invited Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles to speak at the State Capitol on May 9. Recently, Mr. Knowles gave a speech on the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) campus. There were a number of people in the audience protesting the event, and an audience member attacked Mr. Knowles, spraying him with an unknown substance.
“I invited Mr. Knowles to speak at the State Capitol to demonstrate that my fellow legislators and I value every citizen’s right to free speech,” Sen. Burlison said. “What happened on the UMKC campus is disgraceful and shows a complete lack of regard for Mr. Knowles’ constitutional right to free speech. We cannot let a small minority of radicals trample on anyone’s constitutional rights. I hope his visit to the Capitol will illustrate Missouri’s commitment to free speech and open discourse, especially when discussing issues on which we might disagree.”
Mr. Knowles will speak at the State Capitol on May 9 at 11:00 a.m. This event will be open to the public.
