Senator Caleb Rowden Earns Two Key Senate Appointments
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – This week Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard, R-Joplin, announced Senator Caleb Rowden, R-Columbia, would join the Senate Appropriations Committee. The committee is responsible, in part, for drafting the state’s $28 billion budget.
“Passing a budget is the Legislature’s one constitutional requirement. It’s an honor to have been given a role in this critical process,” said Rowden. “I look forward to working with my fellow Senators to prioritize funding for education and job creation as well as much-needed infrastructure upgrades, areas of our budget that grow the economy and improve the quality of life for every Missourian.”
During his tenure in the Missouri House of Representatives, Rowden served four years on the House Budget Committee. Rowden will be filling the vacancy created by outgoing Senator Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City, who resigned this week to join the state’s Public Service Commission.
In addition, Rowden was also named the new Chairman of the Government Reform committee, replacing Senator Ed Emery, R-Lamar, who was named Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy, and the Environment committee. The Government Reform committee handles various types of legislation, including tort reform and education reform measures.
“Having served on the Government Reform committee last year, I came to understand its critical importance in working through important litigation and education reforms. I look forward to working with our committee to advance many of these important measures and working to grow the state’s economy.
Rowden will continue to serve as Vice-Chair of the Professional Registration committee, and as a member of the Insurance & Banking and Economic Development committees.
