We are spending more time in committees in the Missouri Senate, which means we are hearing numerous pieces of proposed legislation. This includes Senate Bill 53, a measure I am proud to sponsor that would modify the duties of county officials. Simply put, this proposal seeks to allow a county treasurer to have access to documents he or she needs to perform the duties of their office. This proposal was heard in my Local Government and Elections Committee on Wednesday.
This was also a special week for us because Tuesday was Missouri FFA State Officers Day at the Capitol. I had the pleasure of introducing these fine young men and women on the floor of the Missouri Senate. Their year is filled with helping members understand the importance of growing as leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. They accomplish this by providing workshops, motivational speeches, state conferences and chapter visits to the more than 340 FFA chapters across the state. These students are tremendous leaders in our state, and I know the future of agriculture is in good hands because of these talented individuals.
