Statement from Sen. Jamilah Nasheed Regarding the Violence In St. Louis Over the Weekend
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, issued the following statement addressing the violence in St. Louis that left 19 people injured and two dead over the weekend:
“I condemn the violence that occurred in our community this past weekend. This kind of violence is horrific and must be stopped. I believe we must come together and work to bring these culprits to justice,” said Sen. Nasheed. “While there is violence plaguing our streets, we must do what we can to protect those who cooperate with police investigations. I believe it is imperative that the Missouri General Assembly pass my Senate Bill 22 to protect the identities and personal information of witnesses who are just trying to keep their communities safe. I believe we owe it to these brave individuals and their families to keep their information from being disclosed while law enforcement works to bring dangerous criminals to justice.”
