SB 657 - Under current law, a person may vote absentee for candidates and ballot issues in any election in which he or she is eligible to vote if such voter expects to be prevented from going to the polls for specified reasons. This act permits a person to vote absentee for any reason or no reason at all. This act is identical to a provision in SB 681 (2020), HB 1393 (2020), HB 1530 (2020), HB 1665 (2020), SB 59 (2019), SB 171 (2019), HB 209 (2019), HB 527 (2019), and HB 992 (2019) and substantially similar to HB 1283 (2018), a provision in HB 1550 (2018), HB 1814 (2018), HB 173 (2017), a provision in HB 501 (2017), HB 644 (2017), HB 1764 (2016), HB 1767 (2016), HB 2451 (2016), HB 287 (2015), a provision in HB 1449 (2014), HB 1604 (2014), HB 188 (2013), a provision in HB 848 (2013), HB 375 (2011), HB 382 (2011), HB 1836 (2010), HB 1839 (2010), and HB 2195 (2010). The act is similar in concept to HB 368 (2019) and HCS/HB 731 (2019).
