JEFFERSON CITY – Approximately 50 members of the Webb City Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) visited the State Capitol on Feb. 25. During their visit, they met with their state representatives and Sen. Bill White, gave a brief color guard performance, watched a live floor debate in both chambers of the General Assembly and received a Senate Resolution for their accomplishments in recent regional competitions.
This elite group of “Cardinal Strong” cadets receive intense training on character, leadership and team building through academic coursework, structured drills and organized activities. Their mission is simple: “To motivate young people to be better citizens.”
The Cardinals’ Rifle Team showcased this motivation after making strong showings in state and regional competitions. Five members advanced to the national championships and finished in 14th place. “I continue to be impressed with the fierce competitive spirit and determination of these young people. The experience, discipline and responsibility they gain by participating in the JROTC program will align them with future success and service to our community,” said Sen. White.
