Senator Bob Onder Files Three Bills During Extraordinary Session

JEFFERSON CITY – State Sen. Bob Onder, R-Lake St. Louis, filed three bills at the start of the extraordinary legislative session called by the governor to address violent crime plaguing Missouri.

The first bill Sen. Onder filed clarifies that Missouri’s Castle Doctrine applies to the property immediately surrounding one’s home. The second allows lawful concealed carry permit holders to exercise their Second Amendment rights to carry concealed on public transit in Missouri. The third extraordinary session bill allows the governor to remove a circuit attorney from office for crimes, misconduct, willful neglect or duty, corruption in office or incompetency in office, similar to the removal of other officials.

“I commend the governor for calling this extra session to address the crime epidemic in Missouri,” said Sen. Onder. “We must protect the public, support the police and prosecute violent criminals. Missourians need to be able to defend themselves, their families and their homes, but they also need to be able to trust their elected leaders to enforce the law. Instead, we have a reign of terror in which innocent people are prosecuted, and dangerous criminals are left to commit mayhem. This must stop. I firmly believe my legislation will Missouri safer for all citizens.”

Senator Onder serves portions of St. Charles County and the residents of Missouri’s 2nd Senatorial District. For more information about Sen. Onder, visit his webpage at www.senate.mo.gov/mem02.
