JEFFERSON CITY—On Tuesday, March 3, the Missouri State Medical Association (MSMA) honored Senator Bill White, R-Joplin, with their “2020 Legislative Award” during the annual White Coat Rally at the State Capitol. During his tenure in the General Assembly, Sen. White has been a strong advocate for the medical field and has sponsored several bills on its behalf.
Earlier this week, the Senate passed his Senate Bill 591 to strengthen protections for businesses, including physicians, concerning punitive damages claims. “Passing legislation to modify our state’s laws regarding punitive damages in civil lawsuits has been a priority of mine for years, and I am very grateful for the assistance I have received from colleagues and constituents to reach this important milestone,” said Sen. White. The bill is now being considered in the Missouri House of Representatives.
