JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, was named 2019 Legislator of the Year by the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys. The award was presented during the group’s annual Capital Conference in Jefferson City.
The statewide organization representing Missouri’s 115 prosecuting and circuit attorneys selected Sen. Luetkemeyer in recognition of his leadership of the Senate Judiciary Committee and his efforts to craft legislation in support of criminal justice and public safety.
“Senator Luetkemeyer is a champion of the rule of law in Missouri and is always responsive to the concerns of the legal profession and those of us who are charged with prosecuting crimes in this state,” said Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd, a board member and past-president of the prosecutor’s association, who presented the award.
“I am humbled and honored to be recognized by Missouri’s prosecutors,” Sen. Luetkemeyer said. “The members of this organization are on the front lines, combating violent crime and helping to keep our communities safe. I value their input as the Legislature considers matters of public safety and look forward to working with them in the future.”
