JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, would like to encourage young women graduating from high school this year to apply for the Women Legislators of Missouri Scholarship. Each year, the group selects one student from each of Missouri’s congressional districts to receive a $500 scholarship.
“This is a great opportunity for young women across our state to receive scholarship money to defray college expenses,” Sen. Eigel said. “Attending college is a big financial decision, so I would encourage young women in our community to apply for this scholarship.”
The Women Legislators of Missouri created this scholarship program to provide financial assistance to students on the basis of leadership, academics and community service. Applicants must fill out an application and submit a 500 word essay answering the question, “If you were a state legislator, what would you hope to accomplish and why?”
For more information regarding the scholarship and to fill out the application, please visit the My Scholarship Central website. The submission deadline is Tuesday, March 31.
Recipients of the scholarship will be announced on April 6, and a reception will be held for the recipients and their families in the Missouri House of Representatives Chamber on April 20.
