More changes could be coming to lawmaker gift bans and how legislative districts are drawn. It all depends on how this session goes and what Missouri voters would decide. Missouri Senate Majority Floor Leader Caleb Rowden of Columbia says Senate Joint Resolution 38 would build onto what voters approved in 2018…
“Kind of start the wheels of educating the people of Missouri as to why we think this is a better option,” Sen. Rowden said. “People are passionate about it and, you know, we are going to give voters another option. And, if they like that option, great. If not, we’ll move ahead.”
Missouri Senate Minority Floor Leader Gina Walsh of Bellefontaine Neighbors adds current applicants for state demographer are under review…
“I have worked in facilities, all my life, where background checks — you were subjected to them — and they decided whether you would work where you’re applying to work,” Sen. Walsh said. “So, I’m not going to waste any energy until I see what they say.”
Redistricting will take place following this year’s census.
