Current Bill Summary

SB 240 - Under current law, the Board of Curators of the University of Missouri shall consist of 9 members, who shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, provided that not more than one person shall be appointed to the Board from the same congressional district.

Under this act, the ninth member of the Board shall be a student curator who shall have the right to vote on any matter before the Board. The student curator may be from any congressional district, and his or her district may be the same as one member of the Board.

The first student curator shall be appointed in January 2022, and shall serve a two-year term provided the person maintains the status of a full-time student. Such student curator shall replace the nonvoting student representative appointed under current law.

The student representative serving on August 28, 2021, shall remain in such position until a student curator is appointed, provided such student representative continues to meet current requirements.

This act is substantially similar to SB 811 (2020), SCS/SB 265 (2019) and SB 873 (2008).
