Current Bill Summary

SJR 11 - Under current law, initiative petitions must be signed by a certain number of legal voters in each of two-thirds of the Congressional districts. This constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, requires such petitions to be signed by a certain number of the legal voters in each of the Congressional districts.

This proposed constitutional amendment also modifies the process for the voter approval of initiative petitions. Under current law, initiative petitions take effect when approved by a majority of the votes cast thereon. This amendment requires that initiative petitions shall only take effect when approved by a majority of the registered voters in the state.

This amendment is similar to HJR 25 (2021).
