SB 549 - This act establishes new provisions relating to employee classification. Specifically, for purposes of determining whether an individual is an employee or an independent contractor the state entities responsible for administering and enforcing laws relating to employment, including civil rights, workers' compensation, employment security, wage and hour laws, and labor relation laws, shall defer to the guidance issued by the Internal Revenue Service. This act is substantially similar to HB 587 (2021) and HB 2071 (2020).
